Anything to do with brain cancer, Lorraine Robinson’s husband Peter says yes.
Except this time, he didn’t quite realise the consequences.
Yesterday, the couple were on their first leg of the Larapinta Trail in the middle of the Northern Territory, taking on a 70km leg of the trek, raising money for the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation.
They’ve already raised close to their original target of $10,000 and are now hoping to hit $20,000 in conjunction with other events planned later in the year.
It’s a cause close to both their hearts, with Mrs Robinson having undergone four brain surgeries since 2003 after being diagnosed with a tumour.
She said their mission to raise money was inspired by those they knew had been diagnosed with brain cancer or who had passed away.
“It’s just there’s so many people in the region, on the Darling Downs, that people don’t (realise) are dealing with this,” she said.
“So I just think the awareness needs to be bigger for Toowoomba and that’s our end game, to find a cure and allow people in the Darling Downs to realise that this is happening far too frequently, and we need to get in, pitch together, and find a cure.”
Mrs Robinson said the couple were “definitely outside our comfort zone” but were excited for the journey.
