St Vincent’s Care Services Toowoomba’s Hostel and Nursing Home accreditation extended

A Toowoomba aged care provider has had its Aged Care Quality and Safety accreditation extended until next year as a result of “exceptional circumstances”.

According to the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission, St Vincent’s Care Services Toowoomba’s Hostel and Nursing Home have had their accreditation, which would have expired on November 24, extended to May 24, 2021.

The extension was granted due to “exceptional circumstances” brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“During the COVID-19 pandemic, the ACQSC has temporarily modified our regulatory program, including the suspension of site audits to determine whether to accredit, not to re-accredit, or vary the periods of accreditation for a service,” the ACQSC said.

“In order to give effect to continuity of accreditation the Department of Health has, under Section 42.5 of the Aged Care Act 1997, made a decision to grant ‘exceptional circumstances’ to this service until May 24, 2021.”
