Snap Fitness opens its doors for free next week

FOR one week only, a city gym will be opening its doors to all members of the public in light of a special occasion.

Wellbeing and exercise

From October 12 to 18, Snap Fitness Toowoomba will be opening their doors for free for World Mental Health Week.

The initiative aims to get people moving and give those feeling isolated the chance to experience a sense of community.

Toowoomba regional manager Thomas Crockett acknowledged it had been a hard year for locals, and hoped this week would encourage people to come forward and begin taking care of their mental health.

“With everything that’s going on in the world, mental health is very prevalent in everyone’s minds,” he said.

“So we got fully on board with that and trying to create an awareness around it and help people through these difficult times.”

Mr Crockett said exercise plays such an important role in people’s hormone profiles, and goes a long way in maintaining mental health.

The team at Snap Fitness is hoping the week of free gym access will entice people to exercise more, and give locals another community to reach out to in times of need.

“It’s about encouraging them and giving them confidence to say, ‘hey I need a chat’, and helping them out,” Mr Crockett said.

Snap Fitness will also be hosting an open day this Saturday from 9am to 1pm at the Ruthven Street centre.
