For artist Kate Civil, there is no need to go far to obtain inspiration for her artwork.
Toowoomba and its surrounds prove fertile ground enough for artwork ideas.
Mrs Civil is featuring 17 of her latest works in a showing titled “Musings” at the Toowoomba Art Gallery which had its opening night on Friday.
“They’re all locally done over several months to a year,” Mrs Civil said.
“I go out and about and look around and then return to the studio and paint.”
Musings is Mrs Civil’s third exhibition at the Toowoomba Art Society but she has been displaying her art for more than 20 years.
However, she’s been working on her artwork much longer than that.
“I’ve been painting for as along as I can remember,” she said.
A number of people took advantage of a viewing with a glass of wine on Friday night but Musings will run until December 18 in the gallery.
“All my family were there and it was really nice to see them and there were friends and some others,” Mrs Civil said.
