Interest grows in free salsa dancing classes in Queens Park Botanic Gardens

It’s a fun and healthy way to get exercise, and it gets people out and about and using the region’s beautiful parks.

This will get your feet moving and heart pumping

Street Salsa Toowoomba is taking over the Queens Park Botanic Gardens.

For the past three weeks, interest has been steadily growing in the weekly outdoor dancing classes.

Organiser Richard Tomlinson said he saw the classes as a way to get more people interested in salsa dancing, and get them out and using the region’s beautiful parks.

Mr Tomlinson, a landscape architect by trade, said he’d had an interest in salsa dancing for a long time.

“And there seemed to be an opportunity – we have great parks in Toowoomba, especially the Botanic Gardens here in Queens Park, and you see a lot of people were passing through.

“So doing this and creating this dance opportunity is reinforcing the public spaces that we have by bringing this activity into it.”

Mr Tomlinson said everyone was welcome.

The next salsa session will take place at 2.30pm on Saturday, March 20, with beginners lessons followed by casual dancing.
