Ever wanted to dig for your own nuggets of gold or precious gems?
A special fossicking tour is being planned for the Darling Downs, with the organisers saying the area is known for containing a range of rare and interesting finds.
Fossick and Find will host the two-day tour from September 25 near Karara in the Southern Downs.
The company said all equipment, mandatory miners’ license and tuition on fossicking will be provided.
“After a full afternoon of gold-hunting and gem fossicking, we return to our motel, clean up, then it’s dinner at our country hotel, where we sip a little and show off our finds,” the website said.
“Be sure to bring your newly-found gold/gems, so we can all ooh-ahh over them
“Next morning (not too early) we enjoy breakfast at the hotel, then it’s back out to the goldfields, this time metal-detecting for riches.
“Around midday, we leave the goldfields, drive to Warwick and enjoy lunch at a country hotel, then return to our original pick-up venue.”
Tickets start from $355, with the tour starting from Ipswich.
