At just 14 and having only had her guitar six months, a brave Zoe-Jane Martin made her public performing debut during the Toowoomba Busking Festival 2023 at the weekend.
Zoe-Jane was one of a large number of acts which filled the city’s CBD with music and song on Saturday.
“She’s been singing for a little while and I bought her a guitar for her birthday a few months ago,” Zoe-Jane’s mother Melanie explained.
“She gets nervous and shy but she had a lot of family and friends there so she really enjoyed it and had a good time.
“It was her first public appearance at all, really.”
Saturday morning shoppers and cafe diners were treated to a range of music from the buskers who took to the main stage in Grand Central Square as well as various spots outside Toowoomba’s Margaret St cafes and businesses.
The Grand Prize winner taking home $1000 was Jodie Ellis while the People’s Choice award went to Leora Dowling.
