David Janetzki to step down as deputy leader of LNP

The Member for Toowoomba South announced his intentions to step down from the deputy leadership, here’s why.

MEMBER for Toowoomba South David Janetzki has announce that he is stepping down as deputy leader of the LNP.

Mr Janetzki, who has been deputy leader since November 2020, announced his decision via a written statement released Saturday afternoon.

“Today, I advised the party room of my intention to step down as Deputy Leader.

“My family has dealt with some physical and mental health challenges during the last few years.

“Due to work demands across Queensland, these challenges were often met by my wife Mel alone.

“Our three children also need more of me – and my heart knows that I need more of them.

“Every family makes choices and this decision is right for our family at this time.

“I sincerely thank Leader David Crisafulli for his friendship, compassion and understanding of my personal circumstances.

“From the outset, his concern has been for the wellbeing of my family and we will be forever grateful for his support.

“Following a short break with my family, I am fully committed to continuing in my portfolio responsibilities as shadow treasurer and shadow minister for investment and trade.

“Delivering an economic plan with integrity that unleashes Queensland’s potential and provides the services that Queenslanders deserve will require every effort.

“I intend to fully dedicate myself to this cause and in the continuing service of the people of Toowoomba South.

“I look forward to supporting our leader David and his new deputy when elected as we work towards the 2024 election.”
