After Covid forced the cancellation of the race last year, organisers for the third Arthur Postle Gift race day in Pittsworth are gearing up for a massive race day later this month.

This year’s event will feature a race that will look to determine the fastest footballer in the Darling Downs.

The 75 yard Wagners’ Female and Male Fastest Footballer dash will pit three male and female athletes from touch football, rugby union, rugby league, AFL and football against each other, with a wildcard entry thrown in to spice things up.

Brisbane Broncos NWRL premiership winner Shenae Ciesiolka has secured entry as this year’s wildcard and said she would love to be the event’s first winner.

“I can’t wait. This is a great initiative and one that I could easily see replicated on a larger scale once people see how great the concept is,” she said.

“While I’m sure there will be a lot of talent on display, I’d love to be the first winner.”

Arthur Postle Gift organiser Greg Quinn said he was looking forward to the race day.

“Through the Queensland Athletic League and our local sponsors we have $10,000 in prize money to be won by competitors on the day,” Mr Quinn said.

“This event has proven in the first two years that it brings our community together where fun activities keep the whole family entertained from 1pm to the final race under lights at around 7pm.”

Nominations close on October 22 for seven professional running events over 75 yards, 120m and 300m.

The race day will be on October 30 at Club Pittsworth from 1-7pm.
