UPDATE: The woman killed in Monday's tragic crash on the New England Hwy near Toowoomba has been confirmed as 37-year-old Sam Leonardi.
Ms Leonardi was driving her three children towards Toowoomba when their car and a crane truck collided on the New England Hwy at Top Camp about 8.20am.
She died at the scene.
Ms Leonardi's son, 6, died in Mater Children's Hospital in Brisbane today as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.
The children's St Thomas More's Primary School class mates have been offered support from counsellors, staff and the school community.
Catholic Education Office director John Borserio on Tuesday said his office would work with the school to ensure the children had the support they needed.
12.15PM: The family of the 37-year-old woman killed in Monday's traffic crash on the New England Hwy has had their grief compounded with the death of her six-year-old son.
The boy and his two older sisters were in the car crash in which their mother died at Top Camp on Monday morning.
He was being treated for critical injuries in the Mater Children's Hospital in Brisbane.
Police confirmed he died this morning.
The Forensic Crash Unit continues to investigate.
