Coming soon: Toowoomba set to welcome unique dining experience

Since the closure of Bombay Bliss and Floyd’s Takeaway, it’s been anyone’s guess what would replace the two empty retail spaces. Now The Chronicle can exclusively reveal the unique concept set to open in Toowoomba in the coming weeks. See details here.

Pulled pork, roast lamb and chicken tacos are just some of the mouth-watering options patrons will see on the menu at a new Toowoomba hotspot.

The Range Meat Co which is set to open next month, will feature a fully-stocked butcher shop, restaurant and dining area.

Owner Chris Donnelly said the exciting venture would present a unique dining experience for customers.

“With the way the industry is changing, there is a need for butcher shops to diversify and offer something a little bit different,” he said.

“We’ll be selling the meat, but because we’re cooking it onsite as well, this will show customers how they can replicate similar meals at home.”

The new business has been under construction since June with expectations the project will be complete by late September.

Located at The Range Shopping Centre in East Toowoomba, the 200 sqm site was formerly the home to Bombay Bliss and Floyd’s Takeaway.

Mr Donnelly said he approached the shopping centre’s owner and worked together with the store manager to develop the concept with plans to completely enhance the site.

The detailed concept drawings place the butchery on the eastern side of the premises, while the kitchen equipped with a butcher grill and seating area will be on the opposite side.

Surrounded by the transparent glass shop front, eager diners will be able to select their meat or fish products, as well as watch the preparation of their meals.

Store manager Kerry Brisbane who has been working as a butcher for the past two decades said the shop’s ‘from paddock to plate’ philosophy is what set them apart.

“People want the story of where their food comes from and we’ll only be using fresh and local products,” Mr Brisbane said.

“Everyone is going to know what the products are and when they come from which makes a big difference.”

Once it opens, Range Meat Co will be serving breakfast and lunch.

Pre-made meals will also be available to purchase with options including lasagnes, pies and curries among others.
