A new family-run business sells old-fashioned style takeaway, with its owner wanting to make a mark on the city with his food.
Floyd’s Takeaway opened earlier this month at The Range Shopping Centre, with Millmerran couple Matt Halse and Stacey Waters behind the concept.
Floyd’s Takeaway has been many months in the pipeline, and Mr Halse said he was excited to be open.
“We’re an old-fashioned style takeaway, we do our own in-house battering and make everything we can fresh on the premises,” he said.
“We specialise in 18-inch New York style pizza’s, great American-style burgers and hotdogs, fish and chips, and we also batter our own plutopups, potato scallops and calamari.
“We’ve already been told we have the best pizzas in Toowoomba.”
Mr Halse has 22 years of experience being a chef and owned a similar business for six years in the past.
He said this business was named after his beloved dog, Floyd.
“We figured Matt and Stacey was a bit boring for a name, so we called the shop Floyd’s which is actually our German Wire Hair Pointer’s name,” he said.
“He looks like a muppet, so he was named after the bass player from the Muppets.”
Floyd’s Takeaway offers home delivery through Menulog and is open 10am – 8pm Monday to Saturday.
