City street reopened after power line 'struck by boat'

EMERGENCY services have closed part of Holberton St in Newtown due to downed power lines.

UPDATE: A busy Toowoomba street has been reopened after a boat reportedly struck a power line.

A resident said they saw the mast of a boat strike the low-hanging power line, which caused emergency services to close the street while Ergon staff worked to fix the issue. 

10.30AM: Emergency services have closed part of Holberton St in Newtown due to downed power lines.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said firefighters and police were on the scene and had closed part of Holberton St near where it intersects with Albert St. 

Ergon crews are on their way to the site.
