Two rescue choppers were deployed for two separate operations after two motorbike riders were seriously injured, with one in a critical condition.
The first Toowoomba-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was called to an incident in the Somerset region on Sunday about midday.
Initial investigations have indicated the male motorbike rider veered off the side of a road and hit a concrete bollard before falling three metres down an embankment.
The man received treatment from an RACQ LifeFlight Rescue critical care doctor, Queensland Ambulance Service flight paramedics and ground paramedics.
He sustained ‘critical’ injuries to his legs and shoulder and was flown to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane.
Moments after the first chopper returned to base, a second LifeFight chopper from the Surat Gas Aeromedical Service was called to a job in the Lockyer Valley to assist another motorcyclist.
The rider, who was a teenage male, sustained chest injuries after falling from his motorbike.
QAS paramedics were also called to the scene and treated the teen before relocating him to the rescue chopper.
He was flown to the Queensland Children’s Hospital and accompanied by his mum.
