THE Department of Transport and Main Roads advises that there will be roadworks on the eastbound (down) lanes of the Warrego Highway on the Toowoomba Range from Friday, December 7 for up to 10 days.
The left (slow) lane will be closed from 6pm December 7 until at least 6am Monday, December 9. Works will be 24 hours a day in this period.
In the event of wet weather or other unforeseen delays, the works may extend over the following week and weekend, until December 17.
If the time frame has to be extended, the works will occur only at night during week days, but will be 24 hours a day on the weekend of December 15-16, if necessary.
The works involve trenching to enable the relocation of communications conduit, backfilling, and resealing the road surface.
These works will require traffic control and temporary speed reductions. Short delays are expected.
The program of works is being delivered under Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA), a joint federal and state initiative.
Under these arrangements, the Australian Government provides 75% of funding, with 25% from the Queensland Government.
The department is working closely with the community, local government, other government agencies and industry to reconstruct as much of the damaged transport network as quickly as possible.
