HODGSON Vale mother Cassie Tape is pleased an avenue of bottle trees has been planted to adorn the highway in front of her house.

A row of 40 saplings was planted by Toowoomba Regional Council on both sides of the New England Hwy a few weeks ago.

The trees are known for developing into their interesting bottle shapes when they reach between five to seven years of age.

When fully grown they reach between 18 to 20 metres.

Queensland's own variety is known botanically as Brachychiton rupestris.

Mrs Tape welcomed the new inclusion to her neighbourhood.

"I think they are a good idea," Mrs Tape said.

"I quite like them because we don't get a lot of privacy from the road.

"With all of the subdivisions they are doing around the place they would have knocked some trees down so it is good they have planted some more."
