A highway has been blocked and one person rushed to hospital following a two-vehicle crash on the Atherton Tablelands on Monday afternoon.
Emergency services responded to the crash near Millaa Millaa, 98km south of Cairns, on the Palmerston Hwy around 2.30pm.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman confirmed two patients had been assessed, with one taken to hospital.
“Crews assessed a female patient with collarbone and knee pain, who was transported to Atherton Hospital in a stable condition,” the spokeswoman said.
“There was also a male patient assessed with an arm injury, but he was not transported.”
A Queensland Fire Department spokeswoman confirmed two crews responded to the scene.
“When crews arrived, everyone was out of the vehicle,” the spokeswoman said.
It follows a separate incident on the Captain Cook Hwy on Monday morning where two occupants of a vehicle reportedly had to climb on to the roof after crashing into a Far North waterway, while awaiting the help of emergency services.
