A three-car pile-up on the Captain Cook Highway is causing major delays for morning commuters, with southbound traffic towards Cairns heavily impacted.
Motorists traveling towards the city on Friday morning, particularly near Smithfield and Trinity Park, have been advised lanes are reduced and to allow extra travel time.
Emergency services responded to the scene, located between Reed Road and Sharon Street in Trinity Park. A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman confirmed that one patient, who was seated in their car upon arrival, declined treatment.
“While the patient declined treatment, we assisted them home,” she said.
Traffic Queensland is warning drivers to expect lengthy delays and urges them to plan ahead.
Motorists are advised to exercise caution and allow for possible disruptions during their travels.
