BUSINESSMAN David Campbell has announced his intention to run for a position on the Toowoomba Regional Council in the upcoming election.

Mr Campbell said living in Toowoomba most of his life made him passionate about the region.

"I feel I can make a substantial contribution to the council," he said.

"I have lived here most of my life and have a huge interest in seeing the region expand and prosper."

Mr Campbell has owned and run the Brutal Deluxe establishment in Grand Central Shopping Centre with his brother for the past eight years, following a career in finance.

"Toowoomba has always been the gateway into the Darling Downs and the Surat Basin.  There has never been a more opportune time to live, work and play in our great city," he said.

"My focus is on sustainable town development, small business promotion, integrity in the job, and listening to the electorate."
