‘Bucket list’: Celebrity cook to showcase culinary skills in Garden City

It’s undoubtedly one of Toowoomba’s biggest drawcards and now patrons have been given a sample of the event line-up, with a kitchen icon set to inspire foodies across the region.

Popular celebrity cook Justine Schofield will be bringing her spring-inspired dishes and expertise to the Garden City.

The cooking icon rose to fame after she was cast as a contestant in the very first season of MasterChef Australia and has since gone on to publish four recipe books and present her own show Everyday Gourmet.

Now the foodie queen is set to showcase her culinary skills in six ‘Farm to Fork’ displays at the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers’ Food and Wine Festival in September.

“I’m looking forward to visiting Toowoomba for the architecture, the coffee culture, to talk to the locals and of course the food and the gardens,” she said.

“(Carnival is) all about the flowers, and I’ll be looking for my favourites – the tulip.”

It will be the first time Schofield has visited Toowoomba but said the Carnival of Flowers had always been “a bucket list item” she wanted to tick off.

The famous cook will be plating up some of her favourite dishes for the season of Spring, using simple – but delicious – and fresh ingredients.

Schofield’s Farm to Fork showcase will be at the festival on September 9 and 10 with sessions starting at 11.30am, 1.30pm and 3.30pm on both days.

The three-day Food and Wine Festival will have more than 35 food and wine stalls, pop-up bars and craft workshops on offer.

Live music will include performances by Jon Stevens, Hoodoo Gurus and Sneaky Sound System among others.
