Man, 30, charged with murder of 22-year-old man at Acacia Ridge

A man has been charged with murder after he allegedly fatally stabbed a 22-year-old man at a suburban park.

A 30-year-old man has been charged with murder after he allegedly stabbed a 22-year-old man at a suburban park near a sporting ground in the middle of the night.

Emergency services were called to a park on Mortimer Rd at Acacia Ridge in southern Brisbane about 12.10am on Sunday.

Paramedics found the 22-year-old man with a stab wound to the chest.

He died at the scene.

Acacia Ridge Criminal Investigation Branch detectives have since charged a 30-year-old man with murder

Police will allege in court the two men knew each other.

The 30-year-old man is expected to appear before Richlands Magistrates court on Monday.

On Sunday, Detective Inspector Craig McDonald said the men were part of a large group who had gathered at the park on Saturday night.

“It appears an altercation has taken place and a person has been stabbed,” he told reporters.

“At this early stage it would appear the attacker is known to the victim. There is most definitely no ongoing threat to the public.”
