Queensland Police investigate sudden death of three-week-old baby in Mighell

Police are investigating the sudden death of a three-week-old baby after she was found unresponsive by paramedics.

Police are investigating the sudden death of a three-week-old baby after she was found unresponsive in her North Queensland home.

Emergency services were called after the baby girl was found unresponsive at a property on Jones St, Mighell, on the Cassowary Coast, about 9.30am on May 11.

The child was taken to Innisfail Hospital where she later died.

Detectives from the Innisfail Child Protection and Investigation Unit have since launched the investigation into her sudden death.

“An investigation has commenced, and detectives will work to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident,” Queensland Police said in a statement.

“No further information is available at this time.”
