ARTISTS across Toowoomba are putting the finishing touches on their murals as the First Coat festival closes for the year.
Fintan Magee is one of the remaining artists in town, working to complete his design on the side of the State Emergency Service building in Hume St.
He said the image of two people holding sticks held a personal story from the Brisbane floods in 2011.
"My mother's home went underwater and there was a young couple that came and helped us clean out the debris, we'd never met them before but they wanted to help out," he said.
"They came down and helped us clean for six or seven hours."
He said the work was a depiction of how the community came together for the SES building, and with the Toowoomba floods, residents could relate to the work.
Working from a lift to reach the heights of the wall, he said the piece would be finished tomorrow, after arriving on Friday to start the paint.
Many residents fell in love with his elephant and tree house piece on the side of theGrid building in Ruthven St.
The 10-day event wrapped up on weekend with the closing party at the Mill Precinct on Saturday night.
