UPDATE, JUNE 27, 6pm: The family and friends of a Belgian tourist who has been missing in Tasmania for over a fortnight have made a desperate plea to find her.

It comes as police hold grave concerns for Celine Cremer, after her vehicle was found “unattended” at the entrance to a remote walking track in the state’s North West.

Authorities found a car reportedly belonging to the Belgian national at the entrance to the Philosopher Falls Track area near Waratah on Tuesday.

According to her sister, she has not made with contact with family or friends since June 16. However, police said Ms Cremer had not been heard from since June 12.

Ms Cremer’s sister said the tourist had made plans to travel to Victoria by the Spirit of Tasmania on June 21.

Ms Cremer posted a photo on Facebook on February 22 – her last before her disappearance – enjoying the Tasmanian scenery.

The photo shows Ms Cremer atop kunanyi / Mt Wellington with the caption: “Un petit diable en Tasmanie” (A little devil in Tasmania).

In the wake of police releasing a missing persons report on Monday night, Ms Cremer’s family and friends have made a desperate appeal on social media.

Ms Cremer’s sister, Amelie, wrote on Facebook. “We have not heard from my sister since June 16, 2023. She was on a road trip to Tasmania before joining (sic) Victoria by ferry on June 21,” she said.

The sister confirmed the registration and car matched the vehicle found by police.

“If you have any information on my sister, please contact me directly or my mum Ariane,” she said.

“Please share this post widely and help us find her.” ️

Ms Cremer’s mother, Ariane, shared the Tasmania Police alert, with friends and family members sharing their messages of support.

Friend Maxime Gilroy wrote that she hadn’t seen Ms Cremer for “several days” and said “her family is family worried”.

“A friend of mine hasn’t given any news for several days and her family is very worried. If anyone has any information, please contact the authorities,” Ms Gilroy wrote.

Another friend, Charline Gerenzani wrote: “My childhood friend Celine is missing. Have you seen her?”

“Celine travelled to Tasmania but hasn’t been in contact with friends or family.”

After police discovered Ms Cremer’s vehicle on Tuesday, a white Honda CRV bearing the registration E40TF, search and rescue members, assisted by a police drone, have been conducting searches in the area.

Police say the woman had made plans to travel to the state’s West Coast.

Philosopher Falls, located nine kilometres from the North West township of Waratah, is a grade 3 hike through dense rainforest.

The carpark where Ms Cremer’s vehicle was found is located around 500 metres up an unsealed road.

The walking track was constructed in 2010 as part of a $1,000,000 funding boost to the area’s tourism offering, according to the website, Waterfalls of Tasmania.

The old Philosopher Falls tracks is now inaccessible, hiking enthusiasts say.

INITIAL, June 27, 9am: Police are concerned for the welfare of a tourist who has been missing for over two weeks.

Celine Cremer has not been in contact with family or friends since Monday, June 12, where she was last seen in the Hobart area.
