Horrifying footage has captured the moment an out-of-control ute sped straight through an intersection and ploughed into a home’s front yard.
The unnerving scene unfolded in the Carnarvon suburb of Brockman, in Western Australia’s Gascoyne Region, on April 1 at 7.43am in front of mortified onlookers.
In an unexpected twist, the 20-year-old driver – who shockingly wasn’t injured – grabbed her bags from inside the vehicle and tried fleeing the scene.
Video of the incident, uploaded to Facebook by Dash Cam Owners Australia on Monday, showed the woman making several attempts to run but being intercepted each time by onlookers.
“Jesus Christ. What the f**k,” a driver was heard saying as the ute smashed into the property in front of his car, which had sped straight through the Richards Street and Meiklejohn Crescent intersection.
A woman immediately got out of the car that captured the crash and began dialling the police as she walked towards the crashed vehicle.
Nearby residents were shown emerging from their homes, presumably after hearing the crash, while the driver of the crashed car collected several bags and tried leaving the scene.
After making multiple attempts to run away, she was ultimately restrained by two men.
The woman, from Carnarvon, was charged with reckless driving and having a blood alcohol reading in excess of 0.08.
She will be summonsed to court at a date that has yet to be determined.
The pair who watched the crash unfold said they were on their way to work at the time.
“On our way to work on April 1st 2022 and we’re just about wiped out by this – another couple of seconds and the end would have been very different,” the post read.
“Driver was the only occupant and went to run, she was detained.”
Almost 5000 people have reacted to the clip, which has been shared close to 1000 times.
