An Australian roadtripper got more than she bargained for during a pit stop at a local service station near Yamba in northern NSW.
What began as a routine visit for petrol turned into a comical adventure when Rose Valente, a content creator and podcaster, made a peculiar discovery under her car.
Rose had initially intended to top up on fuel, but upon seeing the “expensive” prices, she decided to cut her losses and head to another location.
However, just as she was about to leave, a strange noise emanated from under her car, leading her to believe that something had gone awry with her tyres.
In her own words, she recalls the moment, “I [was] like, ‘Oh my god, there’s something [wrong] with my tyres. This is it, I have to call a tow truck, I’m going to be stuck in Yamba with a flat tyre’,” she shared online.
Anticipating a flat tyre, Rose was in for a peculiar surprise. The source of the mysterious sound wasn’t a vehicle malfunction; it was a servo watering can.
For anyone unfamiliar with these everyday servo items, these are the grey cans commonly used to wash car windshields at service stations.
In a mix of embarrassment and amusement, Rose discovered that she had accidentally run over one and started to drive off with it still attached to her car.
“You know what I did? I ran over one of those servo [cans],” she shared in horror. “This is the most embarrassing thing. I’m trying to get it out, and I’m sure they’re watching. I’m going to have to take it back.”
With the servo watering can lodged beneath her car, Rose couldn’t help but laugh at the absurdity of the situation.
Fortunately, she managed to extricate the giant can and, despite the embarrassment, left the scene in good humour.
“I put it right next to the shop and just left,” she said.
Rose Valente’s peculiar servo blunder left her with a memorable road trip story and a lesson in paying close attention to the unexpected objects that might lurk beneath your vehicle after a servo stop.
It’s another humorous reminder that the most embarrassing situations can sometimes turn into hilarious road trip tales.
