The wild fan theory about The Masked Singer

She wrote in her post, "So I heard a wild story on TikTok last week. Wondering everyone’s thoughts."

The theory is:

- The celebrities prerecord their vocals to all the songs.

-All the celebs are unmasked at the very beginning with no audience, only Osher and the judges.

-Then each week, the performers are just body doubles dancing to the prerecorded vocals.

-When a celeb is unmasked, they just play the pre-recorded unmasking.

-So that means that the celebs only do a couple of hours of work and can call it a day.

"Of course it's not them, imagine how much money that would cost"

The original video she's referencing comes from TikToker @masonhellcat, who posted about it earlier this week.

In his now-viral clip, he claims, "The reveals are not filmed in front of a live audience as they don't want audience members to give spoilers away. Fair enough. But here's the thing - they film all of the reveals at the start of the show before it's even gone to air.

"They have them in the bank. Then the celebs go off in a sound booth and record their songs. Their songs are then just played each week and someone else is dancing around to their songs inside the suits each week.

"Then depending on who they want to reveal each week, they just play the reveal tape. Therefore the celeb only has to put in about two hours of work and only get paid for that. Of course they're not putting in hours and hours and hours, because imagine how much money that would cost."

He says all the add-in bits like "when they show the Masked Singers at the supermarket or whatever" are also not the celebrities, but the body doubles as well. "Of course, it's not them," he emphasised.

"I believe it"

On the TikTok video and the woman's Facebook post, fans were divided over whether they believed the theory or not.

On one hand, some people said it was a compelling theory.

"I heard that's true too. I believe it," one person said.

Another pointed out, "It’s true otherwise people would see them come in every week."

And a third said, "I love knowing this stuff," while another added, "I thought everyone knew this?"

"Sounds legit - but now it's ruined it for me, 😂" shared a different fan.

People point out loopholes in the theory

On the other hand, some people claimed it was far from the truth.

"This doesn't explain how we then see the unmasked celeb perform their song again after the reveal," remarked one user.

Another wrote, "This is a great theory, but it’s not true. I know someone that was on the show, it’s the people in the suits."

"So the judges know who they all are the whole time when they are guessing?" asked someone else. Mason replied, "I think so - I think their guesses are scripted!"

Then this person said that the celebrities have a say in it, "Some choose to sing live while others can pre-record," they said.

Network 10 respond to the theory

A Network 10 spokesperson told Kidspot: “We know The Masked Singer Australia is everyone’s favourite guessing game so why spoil it trying to unmask the secrets? We would take it off for you, but as our MIB’s will tell you, it’s classified.”
