The ultra-cheap supermarket that’s offering Aussies free eggs and milk

As bird flu inundates poultry farms across the east coast, supermarkets have been left with empty egg shelves and have had to limit the number of cartons customers can purchase. 

 

Egg prices have soared since the outbreak, and shoppers have sometimes had to pay up to $9 per carton to secure the grocery staple. 

But now, a Sydney supermarket is offering free eggs in an attempt to mitigate the impact of the outbreak and help families across Australia save.

"A gesture of support"

Online retailer eBest has launched new specials, such as free eggs and milk, $10 off your first order, and free delivery on orders over $59.

The offer, which is available until July 22nd, applies to orders over $59 and includes a choice of one of the following free gifts:

1. Farmhouse Full Cream Milk 1.5L
2. Sunshine Farm Fresh Cage Eggs 700g
3. Huaye Paper Facial Tissue 3ply 130 Sheet 4pk
4. Pauls Zymil Lactose-Free Full Cream Long Life Milk 1lL

Shoppers can add their chosen gift to their order, which will be marked as $0 when it comes to checking out.

"While eBest is renowned for its Asian food selection, we take pride in offering a wide array of Australian household essentials," a spokesperson said. "For example, Dairy Farmers Full Cream 1L milk and various vegetables are all competitively priced.

"That’s why we’re offering free eggs and milk as a gesture of support during these times."

The move, which aims to attract buyers amid the cost-of-living crisis, couldn't have come at a better time for Aussies.

"Wow, what a bargain!" one grateful person wrote on social media. "Will definitely be taking advantage of that."

"Can they deliver to Perth? That's so good," another wrote.

"Yesss! Give the people what they want," a third praised. 

eBest says it's Australia's largest Asian online grocer, selling over 50,000 products and having over 160,000 registered users.

Its offering goes far beyond just Asian supermarket items and includes everything from fruit and vegetables, meat and seafood, ready-to-eat meals, pantry items, snacks and frozen foods. 

There's also a dedicated 'half price' section of the site, which currently includes discounts like Mars Bars, $0.35, Snickers, $0.29, Milo Cereal, $2.39 and John West Tuna in Springwater 95g, $0.59.
