The TMI Bluey question people don't want the answer to

Following inferred fertility struggles, Aunty Brandy was revealed to be pregnant. But, it's what's next that has people talking.

Bluey has been known for tackling complex issues head on, helping parents to spark difficult conversations at home around things like friendship, loss, and the challenges of growing up.

But, one of the series’ most renowned episodes for this is Onesies, which introduces Chilli’s sister, Aunty Brady. In the episode, Aunty Brady is seen to feel awkward around the kids, with Bluey later asking her mum why she seemed sad, to which she responds, “There's something Aunty Brandy wants more than anything as well but she can't have it, and there's not really anything anyone can do” - inferring struggles with infertility.

However, viewers may remember that at the end of season three in The Sign, it seemed that Aunty Brady had finally gotten her wish, appearing visibly pregnant at Frisky and Rad's wedding.

The unexpected revelation sparked excitement for many, but now that season four is (hopefully) on the horizon, everyone is wondering what will happen next.

“Curious to know some guesses on this!”

One Bluey lover has taken to the Adult Bluey Fans Facebook page, asking for theories on how other people think Chilli’s sister Brandy finally got pregnant following her apparent struggles, and without the obvious inclusion of a partner.

“Was curious, how do you think Chili’s sister got pregnant? Think she is with someone and finally got fertile? An implant? Other? Curious to know some guesses on this,” they said in the post.

Everyone had their theories

Many commenters on the post had ideas as to how Aunty Brandy was finally able to conceive, and they ranged from obvious, to pretty wild.

“I like to believe it's IVF, maybe help from a donor if she isn't in a relationship,” one said.

“It could be a number of things. I would say IVF or a donor,” suggested another.

“I’m hoping IVF so we have a story for my little girl,” a third echoed.

“I think she got a donor,” said another.

“It’s never mentioned whether she has a partner or not, so I think maybe she underwent fertility treatment and in vitro fertilization with a donor,” one said.

“I heard a theory that she's dating the DJ,” another said.

“One night stand,” another person suggested.

Others said they’re hoping to see the answer revealed in the show’s next season.

“I'm sure we'll find out in future episodes,” one said.

“These questions and more will be solved next season,” said another.

However, just as many said they’re hoping the reason will stay ambiguous - for a very special reason.

“I saw myself in her”

Many commenters on the post said they hope how Brandy got pregnant is never revealed, so that as many people watching the show are able to relate to the character as possible.

“I really like how things in Bluey are ambiguous like why Bingo's in the hospital for example in one episode because it helps more viewers to be able to relate to what's going on because they can imagine their own situations,” one said.

“I think it’s ambiguous for a reason. As is in real life, you wouldn’t walk up to someone who hadn’t already shared their journey with you and ask them how they got pregnant. They want it to be relatable to multiple scenarios. It’s just a cartoon. 🙃” said another.

Some even shared their personal stories of how they have been able to connect to Aunty Brandy.

“I saw myself in her - I had two miscarriages, current partner didn’t want any more kids. Felt sad but came to be at peace with it. Got pregnant cause my Nuvaring failed,” one commenter said.

“He stuck! And I was just as pregnant as her when this aired. I cried so hard 😭 shes just like me fr.”

“Being someone that was in her sisters shoes I sobbed when it showed she was finally gonna get her baby 😭😭😭” said another.

“It took me 6 years to get pregnant, we actually gave up because we could never afford fertility treatments, but somehow got pregnant 8 months after we bought our first home ..i definitely see myself in her, but so many with such different stories could say the same ❤️” a third said.
