The easiest way to make giant candy canes

Bunnings has taken to Instagram to share a Christmas decorating hack to create your own candy cane at home.

“Who knew PVC pipes and red cloth tape could make such festive giant candy canes? 🎄✨” the video’s caption said.

In it, they remove any marks on the PVC pipes with acetone before wrapping around it with red tape to create the striped, candy cane look.

“Soo clever!”

Commenters on the video couldn’t wait to try it out.

“😮😮😮😮 I want to do this,” one said.

“Soo clever 🙌” another said.

“I need to do this, how adorable,” said a third.

“I mean… c’mon this is ridiculously good 😍” another agreed.

“How adorable ❤️🤍” said another.

One even suggested adding red and white fairy lights to the DIY to make it look even more festive, saying they’ve been doing it for years.

Candy canes with a twist

Many avid crafters have come up with ways to make this DIY their own.

TikTok creator @avwooddesigns took to the app to share his own twist on the creation, repurposing pumpkins from Halloween to create a whole new look.

“Who says Halloween decor can’t have a second life?” he wrote in the video’s caption.

To create it, he painted the pumpkins red and white, threading them over some PVC pipes with lights attached.

Meanwhile, @alisha_larson used lights exclusively, wrapping red strings lights and white string lights around the PVC pipes to create the look.

“Wrapped the PVC in red and white rice lights & this baby STANDS OUT & SHINES! Statement piece you’ll have for years to come! ♥️🎄☺️” she wrote.

And, it’s no surprise that commenters were obsessed with the idea.

“How clever and adorable with minimal construction you brought a fun decoration to your yard! Love it🥰” one said.

“fn GENIUS. Lowes here I come!” said another.

“That’s actually a really good idea I like that 😁” a third agreed.
