Sometimes it feels as though the produce you buy goes rotten before you’re even able to get it home. So, you wouldn’t be blamed for shopping fruit and veggies that are a little earlier in their life cycles.
You wouldn’t think there’s any way this could go wrong, but it seems one ALDI shopper has learned it can the hard way, with a fruity phenomenon at home they just can’t seem to crack.

“They’re still green!”
One ALDI shopper took to the ALDI Mums Facebook group to share her confusing discovery.
“Bought these bananas from ALDI a month ago…they’re still green 😅 have them in the fruit bowl with the other ripe fruit and they just won’t turn yellow,” the woman said in the post.
Lo and behold, the woman posted an accompanying photo of a whole bunch of bananas almost completely green.

“Been caught before!”
People in the comments began to share their own experiences, saying she’s not the only one who’s accidentally ended up with eternal bananas.
“I had this happen they never ended up ripening. well maybe they did 2 months later in the bin 🤣” one commenter said.
“Yep we’ve had this & the inside was rotten even though the outside was green!” another added.
“Been caught before. I never buy green bananas anymore,” said a third.
“I brought a bunch like this also and after 1 week still green , opened it and it was hard and black inside,” another said.
Is there anything you can do?
Many people shared suggestions of how the woman could get them to ripen.
“Put them with a ripe banana, one that's getting the black spots on this skin. I've done this before,” said one commenter.
“Could try putting them in a paper bag for a few hours or days?” another suggested.
“Put them in a paper bag with either an apple a pear or an avocado. They need ethylene gas to help them ripen and any of those fruits will give off that natural gas and ripen them,” explained another.
“Hang them up and put alfoil on the tops,” someone suggested.
But, with plenty of reasons why it may have been happening, some aren’t sure anything would help.
“Probably picked too early, so they take even longer to ripen. Can take 6-8 weeks if picked too early,” one commenter said.
“They are immature, you can tell by the squared look to them,” said another.
“I think they spray ripening agent maybe those missed out,” another suggested.
