The biggest problem with Bridgerton's sex scenes in season 3

Dear readers, we've waited a long time... for THIS?!

Dinner was done, dishes washed, kitchen was all tidy and then came the announcement from my husband: "Everyone needs to be in bed by 8pm tonight. Bridgerton is back on which means mummy needs her alone time!"

Bless him. But also, he was bloody right!

After a very long wait (the second series aired back in 2022!), Netflix finally dropped their third series of the sexy period drama this week and there was certainly no way I wanted anyone around to distract me for what would be hours and hours of glorious sexual tension that creator Shonda Rhimes knows how to do so well.

Is 26 minutes too long to wait for a Bridgerton sex scene?

Settled in for a long night ahead, there it was. 26 minutes and 20 seconds into the first episode we had our first sex scene of the new series!

Except it was ... different.

Is it just me or has it always taken Bridgerton this long to give us some bedroom action?

If I remember correctly, the first bit of hanky panky we saw in the Queen Charlotte spin-off series happened in the first four minutes. I kind of feel a little ripped off that fans - who have already been patient enough waiting two years for the new series - had to wait more than 20 minutes for this.

The first ep should've started with a bang. Literally.

The fans want Colin and Penelope!

We first heard of season three's storyline back in 2022 when Nicola Coughlan (aka Penelope Fetherington and Lady Whistledown) revealed that her character and love interest Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) would be the main focus.

"Like Lady Whistledown I’ve been keeping quite a big secret for quite a long time… but I can finally tell you that @bridgertonnetflix Season Three is Colin and Penelope’s Story ❤️," she shared on social media at the time.

The plot will follow the friends finally realising their true feelings for each other. Which brings me to another point of the first moments of intimacy of the show that just didn't feel right.

While I am not totally delusional in thinking they're going to get straight into Penelope and Colin's love affair, the first raunchy scene saw Anthony Bridgerton and new wife Kate having a fun time between the sheets.

Don't get me wrong, I like them. A lot. But fans have been counting down the years, months, weeks, days, minutes to see Penelope and Colin finally get it on and we get the stars from last series? A little bit "been there, done that", no?

But I get it, who else are they gonna get to do it?

They didn't even finish!

If you don't mind a little spoiler, the scene I'm referring to sees Anthony performing oral sex on his lady before they're rudely interrupted by the voices of family members approaching their bedroom door.

Kate jumps up startled and Anthony tries to convince her to keep on task to no avail.

And yes, now I'm going to get a bit petty but... all of that waiting only for them to not EVEN FINISH??? I mean, come ONNNNN!

Hang in there... it's coming!

Die-hard fans around the globe have already binged the first four episodes of the first installment -and it ends with a total cliffhanger that we won't get to get closure on until the second installment coming in another month.

"Oh good, more waiting" is the general (sarcastic) vibe we're getting from X, formerly known as Twitter.

"You mean to tell me I have to wait for part 2 for another month after that cliffhanger??????" one grumpy fan posted.

But don't panic, dear reader. History tells us it will all be worth the wait. Especially if that carriage ride in episode four is anything to go by! #obsessed
