Robert Irwin's big change to I'm A Celeb eating challenges

The Wildlife Warrior was only just announced as Dr Chris Brown's replacement when he insisted things be done differently.

He appeared on I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! back in 2016 alongside sister Bindi, but Robert Irwin has officially become the star who has begged to actually get IN the jungle instead of out.

After weeks of rumours, the Wildlife Warrior was officially confirmed as Dr Chris Brown's replacement of co-host on the reality TV show opposite funny gal Julia Morris.

But according to reports, there were a few conditions that needed to be met before he signed on the dotted line.

Robert's big change to eating challenges

Being a conservationist, Robert, 19, wasn't too keen on one element of the show - the tucker trials that see the celebrity junglemates eating all sorts of animals and animal organs.

So during an interview with The Project panel, Rob confirmed that things will be done a little differently now that he's on board.

“Can I say something very interesting? This is one of the reasons why I was so excited to join the show,” he said during the chat.

I’m A Celebrity have vowed to cease all use of wildlife in the show. The entire consumptive use of wildlife is done."

So does this mean no more Zebra testicles or animal eyeball soup? Isn't that the whole idea of the show?

Well, not exactly. Robert said the eating trials will still continue, just done a little differently.

“All the eating trials still continue, but it’s with sustainably farmed animals," Rob insisted.

“They’ve got all bags to eat!"

An excited new co-host

Robert told the panel that he has always wanted to be a part of the fun reality show ever since he appeared briefly with his sister, so when Dr Chris exited the program, he was keen to jump in.

But obviously the agreement on the use of animals needed to be confirmed first.

“It’s a very important thing for me. And I’m very proud of what we’re doing together to really hit home and lead by example with wildlife conservation in this new season of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here," he added.

The new series will hit our TV screens in early 2024.
