If you received a direct email from your child’s school principal related to their behaviour, you might be worried about what happened.
Were they wagging? Bullying another student? Somehow involved with drugs? Surely something serious?
That wasn't the case for one mother, who says she received a strongly worded five paragraph email - with nine CCTV screenshots - after her son got a drink from a vending machine.

"Why are you that obsessed with him?”
Posting on TikTok, user CassDamn claimed that the principal emailed with her after the 15-year-old asked to go to the bathroom during class.
As can be seen in the nine screenshots of the CCTV sent to the the mum, Cass explains that he was given a hall pass but didn’t head directly to the toilets. Instead, he stopped by a vending machine to grab a drink.
“She [the principal] literally thought that was so bad she needed to send me multiple paragraphs with screenshots of him doing that,” the mum ranted online.
“I’m genuinely just so confused… Why were you staring at the cameras to confirm if my son went to the bathroom or not? Why are you that obsessed with him?”
Cass pointed out that her son wasn’t doing anything wrong such as vaping in the bathroom or using his phone.
“You literally have nothing better that you can do with your time? We live in Cartel Town - I know that people are out there fighting. You can’t be more concerned with that than you are with my son?”
When her son got home, Cass enquired about what had happened and he had a slightly different point of view. While the principal’s email made out like he never went to the bathroom, he said he did, which was confirmed in a different CCTV photo.
“She was misleading in her email… He did in fact take the hall pass, go to the bathroom, stop at the vending machines, and then go back to class, all within six minutes,” she posted in a follow-up video.
"Weird control thing”
Armed with this information, Cass replied to the principal’s email with an equally lengthy response.
“I’m the biggest advocate when it comes to public school staff because they’re so underpaid and overworked but this was absolutely absurd,” she wrote.
“There are literally students bullying each other, vaping on school grounds, fighting, dealing drugs. None of which my child is nor has even been involved in, but god forbid he need a caffeine boost in math class.”
Cass concludes that it was a “weird control thing” and accused the principal of “stalking” her son.
"The principal didn't have anything better to do?"
Many viewers were utterly bewildered at the principal’s actions and wondered why she was targeting the teen.
“It probably took them [the principal} longer to put this together than it did for your son to get the drink and go back to class,” one user commented.
“I'd like to add that people take breaks from work when they're stressed out to go get something to drink or just to clear their heads. Sounds like she didn't have anything better to do.”
Others highlighted that it was strange and invasive for a student to be watched, then reported on, that closely.
“I'm not a parent so idk how this works but you need to take this up with whoever her boss is because that's concerning behavior. The level of dedication is absolutely absurd and needs attention.”
At this time, the principal is yet to reply to Cass's TikTok.
