I want to change my son's birthday but I'm told it's fraud

"I don't want the date on his birth certificate."

A baby refers to its mom as “dada” despite her best attempts to say “mama.”

A new dad has tried to change his baby son's birth date on the birth certificate; but, unsurprisingly, was met with huge backlash.

The hospital tore the form from his hands, and when he complained about that online, no one agreed he had a right to do what he wanted to.

Especially because his reasons were highly controversial.

"I was accused of fraud"

Posting in an online parenting group, the 34-year-old dad explained that he and his wife had welcomed their son into the world an hour before the 2021 New Year, at 11:05pm.

But much to his wife's annoyance, the dad wanted to move the time of birth to 12:05am - just one hour later - to give his son a 2021 year of birth.

But no one was having it.

"I was provided with a form by the nurse to fill out," the dad wrote.

"I added the information needed till I reached the time and date of birth. One hour difference wasn't really a problem. The nurse stopped me and asked what I was doing.

"She said that I filled the blanks with the false information and wanted me to refill the blanks with the ‘exact’ time and date of birth."

The dad "argued with the nurse about it" and claimed she was "making a huge deal out of it."

He said that he told her she was being "unfair to his son because he had only lived in 2020 for just one hour - and 2020 had been a shi**y year."

The dad added, "I'm glad it's finally over and I don't want my son to be associated with it. So saying 2021 would make more sense. I told her it didn't matter and that it was better that way."

The nurse had a very different perspective.

"She tried to argue with me telling me that what I was doing is considered forgery and would cause a huge issue because it's not just an hour I was changing but the date as well.

"I told her that I'm his dad so I get a say and take full responsibility for anything that happens later."

The nurse said that form wouldn't be accepted as it contained "false information."

The dad again rebutted: "I told them that I'm the parent and I have the authority. They ended up taking the form and didn't let me fill it out."

"Trying to control time"

Readers of the dad's post were most unimpressed with his "arrogance" (as many put it).

"He's so controlling, he's even trying to control time," one wrote.

Another added, "As a parent you don't have authority over space and time. His date and time of birth is a fact, not an opinion."

Others were appalled by the dad's lack of respect for someone just trying to do their job.

"You know who else has a rough 2020? The doctors and nurses he tried to bully into forging legal documents," one reader wrote.

"Nothing stressful about working in a hospital during a pandemic. Nope. Nothing at all."
