MAFS fans left devastated after Tahnee and Ollie share relationship update

"We tried really hard," Ollie admitted in a tear-jerking post about their 16 months together.

In a shock announcement on Instagram, Tahnee Cook and Ollie Skelton, the beloved couple from MAFS season 10, announced they have split after 16 months of dating.

The pair, who became fan favourites during their time on the reality show, shared the unexpected news with their followers on Wednesday night. 

Each posted their own heartfelt messages to their followers, emphasising that it was a mutual decision and their 'lives are taking us in different directions".

The announcement shocked fans, co-stars and friends, as they had followed the couple's journey from their on-screen romance to a real-life relationship.

"Our lives are taking us in different directions"

Tahnee, 27, broke the news with a lengthy post to her account, saying she had "genuinely found love" with Ollie, but it just wasn't meant to be. 

She wrote: "Just as I share the highlights of my life on here, it’s only fair for me to share when things aren’t always fun. Sadly, Ollie and I have decided to part ways.

"Our lives are taking us in different directions and we feel at this stage it’s the best decision for us. From meeting as strangers who got 'married', to genuinely finding love, I’m pretty proud of the time we’ve shared."

She then admitted that their journey had been a "rollercoaster" and that "sometimes relationships just don't work out - no matter how much you want them to, and that's okay." 

She continued, "I’m so thankful for what these last 16 months have taught me, and for the genuinely supportive community I’ve found on here. Breakups are never easy but heartbreak is worth it in the pursuit of love."

She then shared a candid selfie of the pair, where Ollie is pulling a funny face.

Co-stars flooded the comments with well-wishes

People rushed to the comments, with her MAFS friends leading the way by sharing their well-wishes. 

Caitlin McConville wrote, "Sending you both so much love," and Melinda Willis said, "Far out guys, devo! 😢 Sending all the love and hugs across the sea to you both."

"Here for you honey," Olivia Frazer commented, while Bronte Schofield replied, "Sending so much love."

Then Ollie commented on Tahnee's post, joking: "Wow. News to me!!!" before sharing his own statement to his account.

"An adjustment that we struggled to make"

"Hello, Tahnee and I have split up. It's sad, but it's okay," he began. "What a ride! A journey filled with love, laughter, challenges, and in the last month, reflection. I think we tried really hard to make it work.

"There is such a separation from Skye Suites to real life that I think is really hard to account for and (albeit not without trying) was an adjustment that we struggled to make.

"I kinda have this pipe dream of us being like Jerry and Elaine from Seinfeld post-breakup, a very hard thing to do obviously, but the sentiment at its core is that I plan to try to be someone who champions Tahnee and can be there for her as a friend."

He then shared a video of the pair dancing at home to a remix of Dancing Queen by ABBA. 

"That video is from last night, so I think we're on the right track," he concluded.
