Perry, who brought the witty and lovable Chandler Bing to life, bid farewell on October 28, leaving fans and friends in mourning.

A bond beyond the screen

The bond between Aniston and Perry extended far beyond the confines of the "Friends" set. 

The two actors maintained a relationship despite the show concluding its run in 2004. 

Aniston's Instagram tribute after Perry's death resonated with their deep friendship, as she wrote, "Rest little brother. You always made my day."

Aniston gets raw

In an emotional interview with Variety, Aniston, accompanied by her co-star Reese Witherspoon from "The Morning Show," shared touching details about the positive moments leading up to Perry's passing. 

Aniston, visibly moved, stated, "He was healthy. He had quit smoking. He was getting in shape. He was happy — that's all I know." 

She emphasised that Perry was not in pain and was actively working towards better health.

Reflecting on their last interaction, Aniston revealed, "I was literally texting with him that morning, funny Matty. He was not in pain. He wasn't struggling. He was happy." 

This glimpse into Perry's final moments provides a touching and intimate perspective on the mindset of the beloved actor.

A Legacy of laughter

Describing Perry as someone who faced life's challenges with resilience, Aniston expressed her hope that he would be remembered as a man who lived well and selflessly assisted others. 

She fondly recalled, "Boy, he made us laugh really hard," emphasising Perry's ability to bring joy to those around him. 

Aniston shared that Perry aspired to leave a legacy of laughter and support, a sentiment echoed in his own words, "I'd love to be remembered as a man who lived well and helped other people."

A flood of tributes and memories

Following Perry's passing, fans and friends took to social media to share tributes, memories, and favourite moments. 

Aniston expressed her gratitude for the outpouring of love, stating, "I hope he can know that he was loved in a way he never thought he was." 

Witherspoon added her thoughts, praising the cast of "Friends" for their enduring closeness, which she described as setting standards for the industry with their mutual respect and support.

"It’s incredible what was born of those friendships," said Witherspoon.

"...You guys have always taken care of each other for years and years."

The mystery ensures

Perry's untimely death, marked by the discovery of him unconscious in his hot tub at his Los Angeles home, remains shrouded in mystery. 

Despite the uncertainty surrounding the cause of his passing, Aniston and Witherspoon strive to keep Perry's memory alive by highlighting his vibrant spirit, infectious laughter, and commitment to well-being.

As Aniston aptly said, "He really was dealt a tough one. I miss him dearly. We all do."
