'I'm a Maccas worker and if you order like this we will ignore you'

While some people agreed that this oh-so-common habit is super annoying, others slammed the worker for being "rude" and "entitled."

Maccas worker explains the one thing people do that will get them ignored at drive-thru

A young Maccas worker has spilled on why she ignores people who are guilty of one annoying but oh-so-common drive thru habit.

Taking to TikTok, the user who goes by the handle @maccasworkeraddict, says that she'll leave people waiting if they do it but the internet is unimpressed by her 'rude' behaviour.

"I make them wait 10 seconds every time they say 'hello'"

The staff member says that she'll leave people waiting if they are impatient and scream "hello" as soon as they pull up at the drive-thru.

"You can't keep on ignoring the car in drive thru because they screamed 'hello' as soon as they get there," the Aussie sarcastically said in the clip that now has 56k views.

Her hot take divided commenters, with some fellow fast-food employees agreeing with her, while others slammed her and tried to justify why people might do this.

"I hate when the person is like 'HELLO, HELLO?' so I say, 'What can I get for you' but then they reply, 'Give me a second'. 😑" one person wrote, while someone else agreed that, "It's always the people that scream hello that are 'still looking' when you respond."

Another said: "I used to work at Taco Bell, I'd make 'em wait if they did that. Sometimes I'd even pretend to not know what 'queso' meant and make them say cheese."

And a third added in, "I hated this working at Burger King. Especially when a customer was out there yelling as soon as I put the headset on, It's like 'MA'AM!'."

Then another worker said that they make people wait another 10 seconds every time they say 'hello'.

"I will always answer back with attitude when people do this," said a fourth.

"AMEN. Make them wait!!" encouraged another viewer.

"You need to grow up"

Then other people slammed her 'entitled' behaviour.

"Big deal. Someone says hello as soon as they pull up… you need to grow up if that's what annoys you," one person wrote.

Another suggested a nicer approach would be replying, "One second, I'll be right with you" adding that they say hello "because I don't know if anyone knows that I'm there."

Then this woman explained: "I say hello as nicely as I can and only if no one says anything for a few minutes." The Maccas worker replied: "That's allowed. If you're waiting ages then you can say something."

Another customer claimed, "If you make me wait, I'll simply go someplace else."

"This is such sh**y customer service," concluded someone else.
