Brazen thieves steal man’s wallet, backpack ... and his dog

HOW low can you go? Not content with nicking someone’s bag and cash, three brazen thieves have stolen a black pug called Egg as well.

WHAT the heck has happened to Egg?

That’s the question a distressed pet owner is asking following the brazen snatching of his beloved dog.

On Thursday evening, three armed robbers confronted a 29-year-old man as he walked Egg, a 14-week-old black pug, at Sydney Olympic Park.

The trio threatened the man with knives on Australia Avenue and stole his backpack, his wallet and then his dog.

The dog’s owner is said to be too distraught to face the media.

Egg is described as a small version of the popular pug breed and was wearing a jaunty red coiled collar at the time.

The dog nappers are described as being of Mediterranean or Middle Eastern appearance and aged about 30.

Two are slimly built and one is larger with a bald head and a goatee, police say.

Flemington police Detective Inspector Paul Arnold said the thieves should return the dog to their nearest police station, animal shelter or the RSPCA.

Sydneysiders have taken to social media to share their concerns for the dog. One said they were worried the small dog could suffer in today’s extreme heat.

“Pray for Egg,” simply said another.
