Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has dismissed reports he’s ever had Botox and revealed his greatest weight loss tip is to cut the carbs and “give up the bread.”
Speaking this morning on NovaFM’s Fitzy and Wippa program, Mr Albanese dispensed with a range of diet tips and praised the longevity of Midnight Oil rocker Peter Garrett who is soon to turn 70.
However, it was a recent media report that the Prime Minister’s plump visage may be inspired by something injectable that caught the eye of the presenters.
“It was a headline that struck us, Prime Minister, in the Daily Mail, ‘Botox fillers or just clean living? Albo debuts a fresh new look as he sports a smoother complexion following his weight loss and style transformation.’
“Have you had Botox and how many fillers have you had Prime Minister?’’ he was then asked.
The Prime Minister then suggested that anyone who thought he had time to inject Botox into his face was possibly injecting the toxin in a non-prescribed area.
“Seriously, I think whoever wrote that article is having Botox in the wrong place,’’ the Prime Minister laughed.

The media interrogation then turned to Mr Albanese’s weight loss journey, after he lost over 15 kilograms in the lead up to the election.
“For anybody listening right there might be carrying a couple of kilos. What was your one tip or secret that you had to the weight loss?’’ he was probed.
“Don’t eat the bread,’’ the Prime Minister replied.
“I just had two boiled eggs for breakfast. It keeps you going to lunchtime.
“Stopping eating in between meals is the big thing.”
Mr Albanese said while largely giving up alcohol was important for weight loss he still indulged from time to time.
“I get to have a beer every now and then. Both light and heavy,’’ he said.
“I have the odd hot chip and all of that. Not be too religious about it. It took a long period. It was over 18 months. But the real motivation, I don’t recommend this, was having a near life ending car crash.
“And that was a real wake up call to get fit and get healthy. It’s worked. I feel much better for it and I just feel much better in the morning but much better throughout the day.”
Last year, Mr Albanese’s partner Jodi Haydon shared a post praising his weight loss after former Prime Minister Scott Morrison – a previous devotee of ManShakes to lose weight – whinged that it suggested his opponent was a fake.
“This week our Prime Minister positioned Anthony Albanese’s wellbeing improvement as identity insecurity. He doesn’t know who he is. It’s as if he is trying to be someone else,’ Troy Mansell, the co-founder of employee wellbeing app Benny Button said.
“Anthony Albanese made a conscious decision to improve his relationship with food, alcohol and exercise. He is happy and proud of his efforts. This should be celebrated by everyone. Not politicised.”
Mr Albanese’s partner Jodie Haydon then shared the post, saying she hoped it inspired others to do the same.
“I’m so proud of Anthony’s discipline and motivation to improve his health. This was a decision made a while ago, after a near-death experience, to make the most out of life and give yourself every chance to be healthy and happy,’’ she said.
“As his partner, I have seen how taxing life as a politician can be, it’s utterly exhausting both mentally and physically.
“The last two years have shown us during a pandemic just how important our health is and how much we should value it,” she said.
“I hope his actions may inspire others to do the same.”
