The time has come to shift our focus to the cozier side of our wardrobe, swapping summer essentials for knits, cardigans, jackets, and jeans.
However, if you’re not looking to do an expensive wardrobe overhaul this autumn but still want quality pieces to keep you warm, Target’s new autumn/winter range that launched this week could be the perfect solution.
Influencers and fashion bloggers are buzzing about the trendy new collection, with a clear standout item already making waves.
The Preview Leather Jacket, made from genuine leather, retails for just $99 — and it must be seen to be believed.
The $99 leather jacket
This black statement piece boasts an on-trend boxy silhouette, featuring a round-collared neckline, long sleeves, open front pockets, and a button-up front.
For comparison, similar jackets, like the Cropped Leather Jacket from Assembly Label, retail for $600.
Target said the pieces in the new collection are “designed for maximum wear and value” with the leather jacket delivering “unbeatable value”.
There’s also a similar $99 Men’s Leather Bomber Jacket in the range, made from high-quality leather, featuring a ribbed round neckline, a zip-through front, and long ribbed cuff sleeves.
TikTok goes crazy for the find
Fashion content creator Matilda Spooner raved about the find, telling her 90k TikTok followers she’ll be “living in this $99 leather jacket until further notice”.
She styled the jacket with Preview’s Wide Leg Pants ($50), the Merino Button Front Vest ($40), the Crescent Shoulder Bag ($25), and Loafer Mules ($35) for a casual yet sophisticated look.
“The jacket’s quality is unreal and it instantly elevates any outfit,” she said.
One commenter described the ‘fit as a “huge slay,” while another said they were “off to Target” after seeing her clip.
“The leather jacket is so affordable,” someone else noted.
“I need that jacket”
Another influencer, Katie Benj, also praised the jacket, showing another way to style the piece.
She paired it with flowy white pants, a striped oversized shirt, a black bodysuit, and the jacket worn hanging off her shoulders.
“Love this!” one of her fans commented, while many others asked for the full outfit details.
She responded in the comments, saying she wore the Target Australian Cotton Long Sleeve Oversized Shirt ($40) and the Preview Wide Leg Pants as well.
Olivia Warland also shared a video of the find, pairing this wardrobe staple with a plain white T-shirt and a midi leopard print skirt, saying the jacket “pulls any outfit together”.
“OMG I need that jacket,” said one.
“I’m here for the leather!” another declared.
Faux leather options
For those who love the leather look, the Lily Loves collection offers a range of faux leather styles, including the Lily Loves Faux Leather Moto Jacket, Faux Leather Trench Coat, and A-line Pocket Skirt – perfect for embracing the trend with even more styling options.
The Faux Leather Moto Jacket is just $60 and resembles the much pricier Maje leather jacket, which retails for $910.
The $80 Faux Leather Trench Coat bears a striking resemblance to the Kookai Phoenix Trench, which is much pricier at $380.
And the A-line Pocket Skirt, priced at just $40, features a distressed leather-look design that mimics the $540 Ena Pelly Stevie Worn Skirt.
