Peter Do’s Helmut Lang Debut
Over the weekend, Peter Do’s debut as the new creative director of Helmut Lang was welcomed by a frenzy of emotional and supportive New Yorkers. Do’s enduring connection to minimalism made him an obvious choice to helm the brand, where he referenced archival collections, ’90s minimalism, and his personal codes to create a collection that was presented upon a projection of fellow Vietnamese creative, the poet and writer Ocean Vuong’s words along the runway. While it may take Do a few more seasons to completely settle into the Lang legacy, we can understand the direction he is headed, and feel confident we'll want to see more.

Margiela returns to the ready-to-wear calendar
Perhaps it was the call of the Tabi that lured the famed house back to showing ready-to-wear, perhaps it was just time. Either way, we won’t protest! Margiela is back on the Paris calendar, after only showing Haute Couture for a number of seasons. The spring/summer 2024 collection is scheduled to show on Tuesday, October 3.

Sabato De Sarno’s big Gucci debut
It is arguably the single most anticipated moment in the whole month. Sabato De Sarno's first collection for Gucci after finishing up at Valentino as Pierpaolo Piccioli's right hand, will arrive during Milan Fashion Week on September 22. Since Alessandro Michele's departure last November, we've seen two collections from the Gucci Studio team, and understand, through the grapevine and through his first ever jewellery teaser featuring Daria Werbowy, that the iconic codes Tom Ford ushered throughout the ’90s might be back on the cards.

Christopher Esber lands in Paris
A moment that will be on the minds of his hordes of Australian fans, as well as the fans he’s earned all over the globe, is Christopher Esber’s Paris debut as a part of the official schedule. Speaking to Vogue Australia, Esber noted of his arrival in the city of love: “When I was planning to do this, I was like, ‘Just because we’re going to Paris it doesn’t mean we need to go to town and do that big Paris show,’ or whatever you think a debut show should feel or look like,” He said. “I’ve gotten to where I am because of what I’ve been doing, so it would almost be risky to [change]. I kind of like the progression I’ve gone on in the last 12 to 18 months, there’s probably been more of a shift in that period, and I’m very much just on that trajectory,” he says.
