Aussie store name people can’t pronounce

It’s a popular Australian clothing store that people have a lot of trouble pronouncing. Even the store joked about it.

Australians have been left stumped on how to pronounce the name of a popular clothing store.

Adam, who is from the United States but lives in Australia, said he was laying in his apartment when he realised he doesn’t know how to pronounce the name of women’s store Decjuba.

“Is it Deckjuba, is it Decja-uba, is it Deekjuba,” he asked his following.

“I just don’t know how to pronounce it.”

But it turns out that Adam isn’t the only person who struggled to pronounce the name.

“Before I heard you say the store name I knew you were going to say Decjuba,” one social media user commented.

Another said: “It’s OK, none of us do.”

“Us Aussies don’t know either,” one added.

One revealed: “I shopped there today and I asked and I’m still now sure.”

One said: “Don’t worry, you’re not the only one. I don’t know how to pronounce it either.”

“For you, it’s 100 per cent Deck-Juba. Keep it up,” one social media user joked.

Many other Aussies took to the comment section of Adam’s video to reveal they weren’t entirely sure how to pronounce the name of the women’s clothing store either.

But, it seems like it’s something that staff at the store get a lot because the social media team were quick to sweep in with an answer for everyone.

“The j is silent. It’s De-Cuba,” the Decjuba page responded.

It’s not the first time that the store has had to clear up how to pronounce its name, with a video posted by the brand in 2023 joking about the response when someone asks how to say Decjuba.

In a follow video, Adam said he “never would of gotten this”.

“Apparently the j is silent so it’s pronounced De-Cuba — and that is straight from the horse’s mouth,” he said.
