Who knew it was that simple!

Despite not being everyone’s favourite chocolate bar, a Twix is always a good reliable choice as far as I’m concerned.

Each time you’re busy downing the caramel shortbread biscuit bar, you wouldn’t be blamed for not thinking about the name at all, or what it means.

Well, a resurfaced Facebook post has exposed the truth - and you’re bound to be shocked.

The classic bar

Twix is nothing new when it comes to supermarket chocolate bars.

Owned by Mars Inc., Twix was first produced in the United Kingdom in 1967, and it was introduced in the United States in 1976.

But, for many fans of the chocolate bar, at no point in that time was its name ever questioned. Now we have the real answer.

Look at the logo…

If you look at the packaging of a Twix, you will notice a few things in the logo.

First of all, the name ‘Twix’, and second, the two lines in the dot above the eye.

Many assumed that the two lines were designed to resemble a pause symbol, calling back to the ''pause'' button motif that had appeared in the brand's 2010 and 2011 ''pause like you mean it'' campaign.

Though in 2025, we’re all still wondering what the name means, it turns out the brand themselves set the record straight in a Facebook post back in 2012.

So… what is it?!

Back in 2012, Twix took to Facebook sharing the truth behind the name of the chocolate bar, and it turns out it’s a lot simpler than you might think.

“‘TWIX’ stands for ‘Twin Sticks.’ But it may as well also mean ‘delicious.’” they said in the post.

Understandably, fans of the chocolate bar were shocked at the news.

“Omg I never knew that!!! Lol idk if this is really legit but makes sense to mee :))” said one commenter.

“Learn something new everyday,” another agreed.
