The fast food giant has brought one of its most beloved UK menu items down under for the first time – with an “Aussie twist”.

The world's most bizarre Maccas menu items

McDonald’s has brought one of its most beloved UK menu items down under for the first time – replete with “an Aussie twist”.

As part of its winter menu, which will be available nationwide from this Wednesday, July 3 for a limited time only, the Golden Arches is serving up its Steakhouse Stack burger.

Featuring two 100 per cent Aussie beef patties and shredded lettuce, Aussie Jack cheese, crispy golden onions, slivered red onions and creamy peppercorn mayo – housed within a toasted “gourmet” bun – the burger first launched overseas last March, to much fervour.

Returning alongside the Steakhouse Stack as part of the fast food giant’s winter offering is its fan-favourite Mozzarella Sticks, which first appeared in 2019.

Described as “the ultimate winter warming side to indulge those cheese cravings”, the snack is served with a Sweet Chilli Sauce.

Those looking for something on the sweeter side have three treats to choose from: the Banana Caramel Pie, Banana Thickshake and Banana Caramel McFlurry, which features banana custard and caramel sauce-filled pastry on a bed of vanilla or chocolate soft serve.

“Our winter menu is all about giving our customers a seasonal spin on Macca’s iconic flavours,” McDonald’s Australia senior brand manager, Liz Whitbread, said in a statement.

“Starring a brand-new hearty burger from the UK with an Aussie twist, combined with a cheesy side and delicious banana-flavoured desserts, Macca’s is bringing the smiles, warmth and comfort this winter for the entire family.”

When the Banana Caramel Pie McFlurry was first released in 2020, diners were quick to express their excitement online, declaring the dessert a “game-changer”.

All of the new additions are available in-store, via the MyMacca’s app and McDelivery from now until the end of winter.

It comes after McDonald’s released a new “smart” meal to help Australians struggling through the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.

The McSmart Meal offers two burgers – a choice between two Cheeseburgers or two Chicken ‘n’ Cheese or one of each – Small Fries and a Small Soft Drink for $6.95 – and “is only available in Australia”.

Fed-up consumers had previously shared they were thinking twice about hitting the drive-through or ordering UberEats due to rising financial pressures – with expert analysis suggesting Macca’s price increases have been “well beyond” the inflation rate.

Finder head of consumer research Graham Cooke revealed recently the price of a large fries has increased by more than 50 per cent since 2019, from $3.20 to its current price of $4.85. A Classic Angus burger, meanwhile, is up more than 25 per cent from $7.95 to $10.

“That’s pretty significant – this is coming amid a time when everyone is focusing much more on bang for their buck due to cost of living,” Mr Cooke said.
