When the Banana Caramel Pie McFlurry was first released in 2020, customers were quick to express their excitement online, declaring the item a “game-changer”.

“Game changer,” another simply said.

The new menu items, which can be purchased at Macca’s restaurants nationwide and via the MyMacca’s App and McDelivery, hit stores on June 12 and are part of a collaboration with Despicable Me 4 movie which landing in cinemas on June 20.

In addition to the food, there will also be 12 mix and match Minion toys available with Happy Meals.

“We’re so excited to collaborate with Illumination’s Despicable Me franchise for what is certain to be one of the biggest blockbuster movies of the year. Since they first appeared in 2010s Despicable Me, the Minions have become global icons, infiltrating pop culture in a meaningful way,” Nichole Tsiros, senior brand manager for McDonald’s Australia, said.

“The Minions are taking over, but not for long, so head into your nearest Macca’s before they’re gone.”

It comes after McDonald’s Australia released a new “smart” meal to help Aussies struggling through the current cost-of-living crisis.

The McSmart Meal offers two burgers – a choice between two Cheeseburgers or two Chicken ‘n’ Cheese or one of each – Small Fries and a Small Soft Drink for $6.95 – and “is only available in Australia”.
