Awhina, please just let him go!
The couple's ending may not have been what anyone wanted - but it couldn't be more on brand.

We’ve officially reached what seems like it might be the end of this season of MAFS. Finally.
But, already, we’re seeing that some of the couples’ endings aren’t quite what we wanted them to be - although perhaps exactly what we expected.

Classic Adrian and Awhina
Last night, after an outcry from Awhina at the previous episode’s dinner party indicating that she and Adrian may not have ended up at final vows at all, lo and behold, we saw them back at the altar.
From the beginning, the two have perhaps been the most ‘on-again-off-again’ of all the couples - aside from whatever is going on with Jacqui and Ryan. But, for a slightly different reason.
It’s clear that Adrian and Awhina have chemistry. But, to be quite frank, Adrian seems like an awful person.
So, I’m guessing I wasn’t the only one screaming ‘YESSSS FINALLY!!!!!!’ when it looked like they were going to let their relationship die at last.
Awhina took the reigns, admitting that she knew it was time for her to go home and focus on her son, after a conclusion was never made around how or where they would continue their relationship moving forward - with Adrian refusing to move to Perth, and Awhina hesitant to move herself and her son to Sydney.
“The brown-haired, brown-eyed boy I’ve been looking for is at home, missing his mum,” she said in her speech.
“You’re not my future right now. This is where our journey ends.”
And, thankfully, Adrian agreed, deciding it was time for him to let go.
“Looking back, I can admit, I could have been a better partner to you,” he said.
“We both felt like we haven’t had each other's back, and that we haven’t shown up for each other.
“You are an amazing mother, and I understand how important it is for you to get back to Perth to be with your son, and that’s the problem. After everything, I believe these hurdles are too big to overcome, which is why I’ve now decided that it’s best for both of us if I walk away.”
But, in true Awhina and Adrian fashion, this couldn’t actually be the end.

Just because it's over doesn't mean it's really over
You wouldn’t be blamed for watching this and thinking, ‘They both said no, this must be the end? Right??’. WRONG!
Of course, the two continue to flirt, and Awhina ends up questioning the thought process behind his speech.
“You have said you wouldn’t want to do this experience with anyone else,” she says.
“Do you want to spend time with me tonight? Do you want to still talk to me? Is that on a friendship level or is that romantic?”
And, after Adrian says yes, admitting he still has feelings for Awhina, they ultimately try to keep giving the relationship a go - at least for the immediate future. Even though they both just agreed to part ways.
And, it was at this point that I began ripping my hair out.
We all know an Awhina
If you’ve never been an Awhina in your life, I’m fairly certain you know of one. A woman so entangled by a man’s looks and charm that they’re willing to overlook the fact that the relationship will realistically result in emotional turmoil.
So much so that SHE is the one convincing him to stay, even after the months of abuse she’s been subject to.
I could practically feel Awhina’s twin Cleo reaching through the screen to wrangle both of their necks.
Thankfully, according to insiders, it seems the two ended up calling it quits just days after this.
“As soon as Awhina got back to Perth, Adrian pretty much ghosted her and their relationship fizzled out to nothing,” a source told Yahoo Lifestyle.
“It was like she’d been under a spell for the last three months. She was so set on dumping him after all he’d done, but at Final Vows, having Adrian stand in front of her smiling and saying nice things, she once again just focused on their nicer moments and disregarded all the bad.”
Tonight, in addition to Jeff and Rhi’s inevitable happy ending, we’ll see both Carina and Paul and Jacqui and Ryan’s final vows. And I must admit, I will be seated.
