The most iconic moment in MAFS final vows was something fans didn’t expect

Despite all the crocodile tears from Paul, there was something behind his ear which had viewers distracted - and the timing couldn't have been better.

Did anyone else see. that? The fly in Paul's hair during his MAFS vows

Without a doubt, last night’s episode of MAFS was one of the most iconic of the season - perhaps one of the most iconic ever.

We had Jeff and Rhi’s wholesome final vows, proving that sometimes (I guess) the experiment can work. We had Jacqui and Ryan absolutely reading each other to filth with one-liners that will go on to be some of the series’ best. And, we had Carina finally standing up for herself against the villain that is ‘Punchy Paul’.

But, one moment in particular has surprisingly taken the crown as the best of the episode - and it was distracting in the most perfect way.

Paul’s most embarrassing moment yet (somehow)

In a positively surprising twist, last night’s final vows saw bride Carina Mirabile engage in an intense and emotional take down of her TV husband Paul Antoine.

Whilst the couple were one of the strongest at the beginning of this season of MAFS, they began to crumble midway through as a result of Paul’s actions - punching a wall after hearing Carina had previously been with an unnamed rapper, exposing Carina’s negative feelings about Awhina’s twin Cleo, calling her a snuck up snob both behind her back and to her face, and then opting to meet his alternative match Hannah despite knowing that would be against Carina’s wishes.

Doesn’t he just sound like a lovely chap?

“I vowed to myself that my life partner would be a man I can completely trust,” Carina says, following a very lovey-dovey speech from Paul.

“Throughout this experiment, there’ve been multiple times where I’ve stood by you and looked past things that you’ve done in the hopes that this would be it for me and for us.

“A few weeks ago, this decision would have been easy for me. There would be no question I’d want to stay with you, but you threw it all away in a selfish act. You were given a test which you failed. In my eyes, that was the final straw.”

Carina goes on to say that Paul had made her feel ‘embarrassed, humiliated and disrespected’ as a result of his actions. But, something extra shiny stuck in that gelled up hair of his drew viewers eyes away from Paul’s crocodile tears.

Twisting the knife and making him really regret his life choices, Carina then drops an absolutely phenomenal one-liner.

“Paul, I was yours. You had me, and you ruined it,” Carina begins through tears.

“And now, you’re going to have to live with that for the rest of your life.”

And then, we see it - a fly, trapped and coated in Paul’s hair gel.

Bad hair day, Paul?

Paul’s hair has been a topic of conversation throughout the entirety of this season.

Some think it looks great, others have accused him of getting hair plugs in Turkey - though of course he’s provided no confirmation of this.

However, it seems the slicked back look finally got the better of him, adding insult to injury as he blubbered miserably about Carina’s inability to forgive him ‘one more time’.

Frankly, I think he was lucky she forgave him the first time. You don’t get more chances after that.

More animals in MAFS, please!

The scene had viewers getting war flashbacks to an iconic moment back in 2019, when Ning’s earring stole the show as she was getting brutally dumped by Mark.

The mother of three poured her heart out during her final vows (before she knew Mark didn’t feel the same way), though fans got a little distracted as she brushed her fringe behind her ear and dislodged her cuff-style earring.

Social media went into overdrive, wondering why no one was able to help Ning amongst all the retakes.

Then, to make matters worse, Ning didn’t even get the iconic storm off she was after, being interrupted by a trio of ducks walking into the scene on the gravel road Mark is left standing on.

Maybe animals do make for the best supporting actors after all?
