‘And then there were three’: Baby news for Sofia Richie Grainge

The model and sister of Nicole Richie announced she and husband Elliot Grainge are expecting their first child.

The 25-year-old model is six months pregnant and announced the news via a stunning photoshoot and interview for Vogue.

“I found out very, very early,” she told the magazine. “I was about four weeks pregnant.”

Sofia was in Milan for Fashion Week and feeling uncharacteristically sick.

She thought it might just be jet lag, but since she and Elliot had been casually trying for a baby since their wedding last April, she decided to take a pregnancy test.

“I was taking one of those really crappy at-home tests, and there was the faintest of lines.”

She sent Elliot to the chemist to buy more tests to confirm, and they were all positive.

Sofia Richie Grainge is pregnant

Although she and her husband were excited about the news, they decided to wait until eight weeks to tell their families.

“Pregnancy is really scary and you want to protect that space,” she explained, adding that the tests and milestones during pregnancy surprised her. The young mum-to-be wanted to protect her mental health.

Sofia didn’t talk baby names to the publication, but she shared that her baby will be a Gemini, which means her due date is sometime in late May or June.

She also revealed that she’s expecting a little girl.

“And then there were three,” the model posted on Instagram alongside her Vogue photos.

“Our hearts are filled with so much love,” she said in a separate post.

“So thankful for all of your support. Can’t wait for this next chapter of life!”

How did Sofia Richie and Elliot Grainge meet?

Sofia and Elliot’s friendship started in childhood as their dads, Lionel Richie and Universal Music Group Chairman CEO Sir Lucian Grainge, were old friends.

But they didn’t start dating until many years later, after Sofia broke up with Scott Disick of KUQTK fame.

The pair was together from 2017 until 2020, and shortly after, Sofia was connected with Elliot.

In March 2021 that they went social media official with their relationship. A few months later, in August, they bought a house together, and the next year, they were engaged.  

In April 2023, Sofia and Elliot tied the knot in the French Riviera. The bride wore three different custom Chanel wedding gowns for the festivities, and during the reception, there were surprise performances from Lionel Richie, and Good Charlotte, whose frontman Joel Madden is married to Sofia’s sister Nicole.
