While the weather forecast suggests we are in for a wet weekend, there’s still plenty of fun activities on to keep the whole family entertained.

While the weather forecast may feature some drips and drops across Darling Downs roof tops, there’s plenty of fun activities happening to keep the whole family entertained.

From lively train rides to a day at the movies, here are 10 things to do in Toowoomba and surrounds this weekend.

1. Car meet

The Reverence Car Meet is set to take over Annand St from 3pm on Sunday.

There will be hundreds of modern and classic cars on display, so bring the family along and enjoy an afternoon out.

2. Elvis takes the train

DownsSteam Tourist Railway and Museum is hosting an Elvis themed ride on Saturday.

The centre’s iconic 2000 Class railmotors will run from Drayton to Pittsworth and attendees are invited to dress in their favourite ‘50s fashion.

Upon arrival in Pittsworth, indulge in a fantastic country pub meal, featuring an alternate drop of classic meals in a lively atmosphere that will transport you straight to the golden years of Elvis. This meal is included in the ticket cost.

The winners of the best dressed competition will receive a $200 gift card.

3. Wildlife Shows

Discover the wonders of Australian wildlife at the Cobb & Co Museum.

The centre is hosting wildlife shows and animal-inspired activities through the school holiday.

From furry friends to scaly creatures, there’s plenty to learn and explore this school holidays. Daily shows at 10am, 11.30am and 1pm, $12 per child. Tickets online.

4. Sunset Sessions

There’s nothing more spectacular than watching the sun set over the Lilyvale Valley, nestled among the vines at Rosalie House.

Warm up by the campfire, enjoy music, and indulge in a delicious gourmet tapas or share plate. And of course, a glass of wine in hand. Bring along the whole family to experience an unforgettable evening.

The winery is open all weekend, with the Sunset Sessions running from 3-6pm.

5. Live music

There is a big weekend of live music at Bone Idol Brewery at the weekend.

Taking the stage on Saturday from 1pm will be Blues Jam with Sean P, Boyd Ridley and LODI while Brown Suga will perform at 8pm.

As for Sunday, Kane Maher is set to perform from 1pm.

6. Visit markets

Take a stroll through the Toowoomba Farmers’ Market this Saturday at 27 Lindsay St, East Toowoomba, near the windmills at Cobb & Co Museum.

The Toowoomba Farmers’ Market is on from 7am-noon on Saturday.

The Yarraman Markets, located on the corner of Margaret and Toomey streets, are back for 2025 on Saturday from 7am-noon.

Also check out the PCYC markets which run every Sunday at 219 James St from 7am-12.30pm.

From the best seasonal produce to local wines and spirits, there is sure to be something for everyone.

7. Catch a flick

Escape the rain and watch a movie in the comfort of Grand Central Cinemas.

There are plenty of great kids movies showing, including Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Paddington in Peru, Moana 2 and Mufasa: The Lion King.

Adults can enjoy Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, Nosferatu or the Robbie Williams bio-pic Better Man.

8. Visit Picnic Point Lookout

Enjoy a picnic this weekend with the whole family while taking in sweeping panoramic views at Picnic Point Lookout and Parkland.

You can also stop by the cafe to enjoy a coffee or have a delicious breakfast or lunch.

9. Highfields Falls

Highfields Falls, which is only a short 15-minute drive north of Toowoomba, is a great place to enjoy walks and bird watching.

There are two one-way walks and five circuits to enjoy which are relatively short and are perfect for the whole family for some school-holiday fun.

10. Highfields Pioneer Village

You can step back in time and discover Queensland’s heritage at the Highfields Pioneer Village.

Visit the iconic Ambulance Museum and explore Toowoomba’s Fire Brigade Museum.

The Highfields Pioneer Village is open daily 10am-4pm.
